The Cadbury Road complex is a thoughtfully designed 14-apartment assisted living facility that prioritises community and resident well-being, developed in partnership with Homes Tasmania and the Fairbrother Foundation. This innovative project aims to challenge traditional institutional care models by fostering a sense of belonging and connection among residents.
The design features large glass panels, textured concrete, and natural timber, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The extensive use of glass blurs the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces, enhancing connectivity and encouraging social interaction in communal areas before leading to private apartments. This layout maximizes scenic vistas and promotes a communal living experience.
Each apartment is fully self-contained and includes universally accessible features, along with private outdoor spaces like balconies or courtyards, supporting residents’ independence and personal privacy. The overall design reflects a progressive approach to assisted living, emphasizing community engagement, accessibility, and a nurturing environment.
