Maroni Close Housing
The Maroni Close Housing development replaces an estate of dilapidated bedsit units, with a contemporary and affordable housing development. In the arrangement of small, outward-looking groups, the units are varied in plan form and grouping and present a variation in setbacks, rooflines and accent colours, whilst being punctuated by screens and landscaping.
The development places emphasis on sustainability, with many of the houses exceeding a 7-star energy efficiency rating, which is due to the efficient and economical design. Each unit has windows placed in opportunities for passive surveillance, overlooking public areas to discourage anti-social activities and nurture a sense of community through safety and inclusion.
